About us

Who we are

Alternative Futures Group is one of the largest not-for-profit Health and Social Care charities in the North West and has been changing lives, creating independence and achieving great outcomes for the brilliant people we support for 30 years.

Operating as a Trading Charity, our income is solely derived from locally commissioned services which are funded either by Local Authorities, Clinical Commissioning Groups or by Individual Direct Payments.

With an annual turnover of over £60m, we employ 2,000+ staff who proudly support more than 800 people with a range of learning disabilities and mental health issues.

Our support provision is delivered by our amazing workforce combined with the latest digital technology. This enables us to take a personalised approach with our service tailored to meet the specific needs of each and every individual we support. We connect people to their loved ones and the communities in which they live, promoting independence, choice and opportunity.

Above all, each individual we support lives a full independent life, as they wish to live it

Our values

We are one

We succeed together with a shared purpose and vision. We inspire others, take pride in what we do and trust each other. We all have a part to play.

We raise the bar

We learn from the past, are adaptive and excited by our future. We innovate and lead the way. We strive for best quality with least waste. Better never stops.

Every person matters

We are people focused and value skills, gifts and potential. We listen. How people think and feel matters; everyone has a voice.

We change lives. Our ‘can do’ attitude and passion enables people to be the best they can be

We take ownership

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

We are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion (ED&I) into all our processes, policies, and most importantly our culture. Delivering just our legislative obligations is not enough. Our ED&I Strategy builds upon good fundamental foundations and pledges to address inequalities in our organisation, creating an inclusive culture which is equitable and free from all forms of discrimination. We are passionate about ensuring that all our staff feel that they can bring their whole selves to work and feel a sense of belonging, that they are valued, and that their skills and abilities are recognised. We believe that having a workforce that represents the people we support and the communities in which we work will help us to ensure that we enshrine inclusivity in all that we do.
