The Advice Manager will take the lead on BIAS’s day-to-day advice services, managing a small team of advice specialists to ensure that we provide the highest-quality service to our clients. You will need to have strong people skills and the ability to build good working relationships with staff and clients, along with excellent organisational abilities to ensure that projects are delivered on time.

This role will also involve working with the leadership team to help identify areas for future development and support grant applications and reporting, which will give you the opportunity to have a direct impact on shaping the organisation’s future strategy and direction.

KEY WORK AREAS AND MAIN DUTIES

Staff management

• Managing a small advice team, ensuring the quality of the advice provided.
• Providing support and supervision to staff on the delivery of advice services, ensuring that appropriate advice is provided and casework deadlines are met.
• Ensuring good teamwork and lines of communication between staff, volunteers and partner agencies.
• Creating a positive working environment in which equality and diversity are promoted and staff can do their best.

Quality and service delivery

• Leading the welfare advice services, including contributing to possible future expansion.
• Maintaining a small personal caseload (approximately one day’s work per week).
• Working with the Operations Manager to ensure that BIAS maintains the Advice Quality Standard (AQS) and is successful in AQS renewal.
• Leading on monitoring service delivery, recording outcomes and ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
• Managing all aspects of risk relating to advice delivery, complaints handling, safeguarding and GDPR.

Operational support

• Working with the leadership team as required on operational matters, including planning, strategy for future development and grant applications and reporting.

WHAT DOES BIAS DO?

BIAS is a local charity which has supported England’s largest Irish community in Brent for over forty-five years. We deliver our support through our welfare advice drop-in service, our Active Ageing Clubs and our Be-a-friend volunteer scheme. We raise over £1 million in extra income for the most vulnerable every year and have over 3000 attendances at our club services. BIAS has exciting plans for possible further expansion in 2024 and has a range of medium- to long-term grant funding, including from Ireland’s Emigrant Support Programme.

Key Details

Salary: £49,500 per annum with generous benefits including 25 days annual holiday plus public holidays, enhanced pension contribution, private medical health insurance, life assurance and flexible/hybrid working.

Hours: 35 per week over 5 days.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, and working closely with your fellow Campaigns Managers and the wider campaigns team and legal teams, we are looking for someone to design, develop and run impactful and engaging legal campaigns at Good Law Project. 

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual with a passion for the work of Good Law Project who wants to use their campaigning background to help increase our impact, our income and our supporter growth and engagement throughout our legal campaigns. We have ambitious goals and are looking for somebody who brings determination, and the ability to design and deliver legal campaigns in a dynamic and fast paced environment. The role will require enthusiasm, flexibility and the ability to think creatively and strategically. 

We recognise that experience and skills can be gained in a variety of ways including through your lived experience, personal life and interests as well as professional career experience. Essential experience, skills and knowledge required for the Website Project Manager role:

• Established project manager with at least 2 years’ experienceof large scale website projects including CRM/Database integrations

• Working closely with the Marketing & Digital team to migrate content to the new website, managing the strategy and timings to ensure this key milestone of the project is achieved on time
• Organising workshops and other internal meetings to ensure that all directorates have input and have clearly defined tasks and timelines to follow
• Assisting the Head of Digital and wider digital team in the management of the current website as well as the new website. This includes regular updates, page creation for campaigns and search engine optimisation

About Be Free Campaign:

Be Free Campaign is a dynamic mental health charity dedicated to preventing and intervening early in young people's mental health issues. We deliver impactful mental health programmes to schools, community centres, and organisations, reaching and supporting as many young individuals as possible. We are run by young people, for young people.

Position Overview:

Be Free Campaign seeks a dedicated and experienced Operations Manager to play a crucial role in managing and expanding our outreach programmes specifically focused on young people's mental health. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of these programmes, including delivery, volunteer recruitment, administrative tasks, contributing to fundraising efforts, and providing leadership and management.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

• Provide operational leadership, manage performance, maintain service quality, monitor operations, and develop staff.

• Represent the Be Free Campaign at a senior level with external partners.

Programme Management:

• Support the development and implementation of our young people's mental health programmes.

Communications and Marketing:

• Develop engaging content for various channels (social media, website, newsletters) specifically targeting young people and raising awareness about mental health.

• Assist with the creation of marketing materials and campaigns focused on young people's mental health.

• Support public awareness initiatives related to young people's mental health.

Fundraising:

• Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising strategies to secure financial resources for the young people's mental health programmes.

• Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors and grant-making bodies.

• Prepare grant proposals and reports.

• Assist with fundraising events and initiatives.

Impact Reporting:

• Compile and analyse data to create detailed impact reports for each young people's mental health programme delivered.

• Ensure accurate documentation and collection of evaluations and feedback from young participants.

Administrative Tasks:

• Undertake administrative duties necessary for the smooth operation of the young people's mental health programmes.

• Maintain accurate records, including programme schedules, volunteer details, and partnership information.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., psychology, social work, youth work) or equivalent work experience.

• Previous experience in programme management, preferably in a youth mental health or charity setting.

• Strong organisational and administrative skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

• Demonstrated experience in volunteer management.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

We are looking for an Interim External Affairs Manager to help lead our communications activities from 24 June 2024 to 31 December, while our permanent External Affairs Manager is on sabbatical. This is a particularly exciting time to join the team, as we seek to maximise our impact ahead of the next general election and develop our strategy for the next few years. 

The successful candidate will help to manage the day to day work of the External Affairs team, including supporting colleagues to enhance our reach on social media and digital channels, deliver our events programme and deepen our impact with key audiences.

Communications and events

Senior Legacy and In Memory Fundraising Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Sue Ryder for a Senior Legacy and In Memory Fundraising Manager to lead, manage and develop our Legacy and In Memory Strategies to deliver sustainable long-term income growth.

Sue Ryder has a dedicated focus on investing in our legacy giving and we are looking for a passionate and dynamic leader to take on this integral role within the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of High Value and Legacy Fundraising you will:

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the development, delivery and implementation of the Legacy Strategy to deliver sustainable long-term growth
• Lead the Legacy and In-Memory team to maximise Legacy & In-Memory income for Sue Ryder and ensure an excellent stewardship and supporter experience
• Be able to interpret and act on data insight and produce robust reports about legacy income and the legacy pipeline
• Work with colleagues to ensure excellent stewardship is followed through in the Charity’s administration of legacy gifts
• Take the lead on the annual planning budgets, forecasting and variance reporting on monthly management accounts for Legacy and In-Memory Giving
• Keep abreast of the latest trends and innovations in Legacy and In Memory Giving
• Plan and lead innovative marketing campaigns including using digital channels

• Extensive Legacy & In Memory fundraising experience with a minimum of two years at manager level

A great sense of humour will serve you in good stead working in our busy, fast paced office.
